Standard 2tn Bundles

Here at Pacific Steel our standard packaging for straight length bars are bundles of approximately 2tn each (max 2.2tns).  All bundles are sold on actual weight however if you need an estimate of the number of bars per tonne then provided below is a product calculator.

Just enter the length in metres, number of bars you need, the diameter in millimetres and the calculator will tell you how many tonnes you need to order.

50 Bar Packs / Builders Packs

As part of a specially tailored offering designed towards ease of handling a smaller sized bundles for re-sellers we do offer 10mm, 12mm and 16mm and 16mm def 6m bar (G500MA, G500QT and G300) in 50 bar packs or commonly called "Builder Packs".

These are made up of individually strapped packs of 50 bars, which are then strapped into a master pack as following:

  • 10mm:              5 x 50 bars = 250 bar master pack (0.925tns)
  • 12mm:              5 x 50 bars = 250 bar master pack (1.332tns)
  • 16mm:              4 x 50 bars = 200 bar master pack (1.893tns)

The product calculator above can also be used to work ou the tonnes per pack and note these are bar counted and sold on nominal weight.

For purchases of reinforcing steel in coil form please use the estimate of:

  • 1 coil = approx 1.45tns

Farewell To An Old Friend
Sunday 17 August 2008 saw our old friend ‘Big Red’ - the red locomotive DF-1501 leave Pacific Steel.  Resident on site since 1975, NZ’s first diesel electric locomotive has stood guardian near our main gate and has become a firm icon of the steel industry and the local community alike.  Although popular with taggers and the scene of some nefarious night-time activities, the bulk of DF-1501 has endured over the years with a little assistance from Pacific Steel.
